Program Overview:
This position is part of Southern California Edison?s (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The Summer Internship program is a 10-12 week paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience with meaningful work, while developing your skills, and building your network. The internship has an estimated start date of May/June 2019 and an estimated end date of August/September 2019.
SCE offers these programs with the belief that learning and development are important parts of building future leaders. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in intern mixers, executive speaker series, site tours, community volunteer events, and cross-company networking.

Information Technology (IT) ? Grid Services is responsible running critical 24x7 operational functions in support of the electric grid (electric and generation control systems, grid communication network, grid data center, grid and telecommunication operation centers and grid security operations).
The department is comprised of the following divisions:
PSC Security & Compliance Operations
This position will be in IT, Grid Services, Power System Controls, Security and Compliance Operations group. The Security and Compliance team leads the company?s efforts to protect its Grid Services? SCADA, Energy Management System as well as ensure compliance per NERC CIP and FERC regulatory mandates.
The IT NERC CIP Programs group of Grid Services is responsible for handling the cybersecurity regulatory requirements in IT and ensuring that the requirements are met. The group maintains responsibility for the ongoing assurance of the NERC CIP cyber measures to protect the Power Grid networks, systems and applications in the following areas: access management and revocation; change and configuration management; security awareness; electronic security perimeter; systems security management; and vulnerability management. Additionally, the team advises on cyber security requirements for new projects and assists in identifying potential non-compliance events.
Position Overview
This position will be supporting the daily maintenance of the SCE SCADA control system applications, in specifically the front end processor, data acquisition controllers and end devices used for monitoring and control of the electric grid. The support include collaborating with PSC SCADA field engineers, Grid Operations, TDBU Substation and Distribution Automation and Engineering, as well as the Advanced Technology organization in order to understand the business needs and provide engineering solutions that meets the business requirements. The position will also support other SCE teams to ensure the engineering and design meets the standard as well as carry out policies in compliance with NERC and FERC.
Examples of what our interns do:
? Maintenance of Energy Management System.
? Conduct Cybersecurity vulnerability scans and assessments.
? Monitor security events and alerts, facilitate the Cybersecurity awareness program, UNIX scripting, systems installation, and compliance evidence gathering.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
Be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master?s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management Systems or closely related field at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2019 or later.
Preferred Skills :
? Preferred GPA of 2.8 or higher
? Experience with UNIX/LINUX and Windows Operating Systems.
? Knowledge or experience with programming languages
? Knowledge or exposure to Powershell, Python Scripting, and understanding of the OSI/TCP IP Model
? Ability to learn Cybersecurity related concepts, methods, and process
? Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
? Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, run risks appropriately, handle information, and provide excellent service to internal and external customers
? Effective resource and project planning, decision-making, collaboration, results delivery, team building, and the ability to know the latest with technology and innovation.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
