Charge Nurse, Procedural - Ob/Gyn Clinic

The Charge Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to the pre-op through discharge from the enter, including care provided in the Pre-op, Procedure Room and PACU.
Sets and manages staffing schedule, oversees the day to day operational flow of patient care.
Serves as a resource for clinical questions and patient care related issues as they arise.
Works closely with the Administrator/Clinical Director, Nurse Manager, Medical Director and all staff.
Provides leadership through example and sets the pace for an efficient, quality care focused, team oriented endoscopy center.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Oversees the performance of tasks related to direct patient care in the pre-op, procedure rooms and PACU.
Acts as a resource on clinical issues to all nursing and clinical ancillary staff.
Serves as the team leader in the continuity of patient care in the clinical areas and acts as the Administrator/Clinical Director in the Director's absence.
Defines and coordinates the adequate staffing based on patient daily census and special patient needs.
Ensures that all needed equipment and supplies are ordered for the clinical area and that inventory par levels are maintained.
Ordering of medication and supplies on a weekly basis based on upcoming patient census.
Directs the orientation, in-service training and education of assigned personnel and conducts annual and off-cycle proficiency training.
Participates in setting standards and writing nursing care policies and procedures.
Holds monthly staff meetings to keep staff apprised of policy additions and revisions, findings of QI studies and implications, to relay pertinent information and to allow employees to share ideas and concerns.
Serves as a member of the QAPI Committee, compiles QI data and assists in achieving compliance to QI measures.
Assists the Safety Officer in implementing the Safety Program and ensures that environmental and electrical safety policies and procedures are followed.
Assists the Infection Control Coordinator in implementing the Safety Program and ensures that infection control policies and procedures are followed.
Ensures that clinical personnel accurately and promptly complete medical records.
Education:
Associates degree/college diploma required.
Bachelor's degree (Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing) preferred.
License/Certification:
California RN state license required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) required.
If ACLS is through American Red Cross, BLS is not required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
If candidate has American Heart Association, BLS is required.
Experience:
One (1) year of Charge RN experience required.
One (1) year experience in a hospital, ASC or Endoscopy Center Setting preferred.
Five (5) years of Nursing patient care experience preferred.
